Lerets Billedmager - CHPEA and CLAY musum

The framework for the exhibition “Carl Henning-Pedersen – Images in Clay” takes inspiration from a circular motion where a curated selection of Carl Henning-Pedersen’s colourful and playful ceramic works are displayed based on the movement of the pottery wheel.

The soundscape “In My Hands” is running from built-in membranes in the display podiums setting an audio frame of mind to Carl Henning Pedersen’s imaginative yet concrete universe. Sensuous real sounds of sand, stone and broken ceramics companion the movement of the potter’s work, from kneading the clay to turning the wheel.

THE SOUND OF CRAFT

The tactile sound installation “the Sound of Craft” is inviting visitors to engage in and play with the meditative sound that transpire when gently “drumming” on seven sound jars with soft drum mallets. The natural burned coloured jars are staged on a height-variation of scaffolds made in walnut. Each jar is unique in both height and diameter to create each their distinctive sound.

The exhibition design is a performative setup where both Carl Henning-Pedersen’s ceramic works and visitors are part of a circular dynamic, where sound and movement inspired by the artist’s universe mesmerize and harmonize.
